Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a qualified Field Worker to be stationed at Bagamoyo Office to support day to day laboratory operations.
Responsibility:
Responsibilities
Ensure the implementation and day to day running of a study under GLP standards.
Maintain equipment, facilities as and perform insectary duties as dictated by set of Standard Operating Procedures.
Ensure checking if equipment is in appropriate working order, room temperature recording, and reporting malfunctions to the insectary manager.
Feeding larval with approved food and adult mosquitoes by human arm and membrane (arm feeding)
Perform entomological field work as assigned by the insectary manager, Project leader and study coordinator.
Participate on mosquitos preparation for specified experiments following the SOPs
Attend any training that is required by the role.
To carry out additional reasonable duties as assigned by the insectary manager or supervisor.

Assisting and implementing experiments.
Ensure compliance with all GLP protocols as stipulated in the SOPs, satisfy all safety requirements of laboratory environments, record data correctly and ensure proper disposal of waste.

Job Summary
Ifakara Health Institute seeking a Field Worker who will be based at Bagamoyo Branch to support the implementation of the DYNMIA Study by conducting field activities including participant recruitment, data collection, community engagement, and ensuring adherence to study protocols and ethical standards.
Responsibility:

Conduct follow up of participants in the community to assess their wellbeing after administration of Investigational product.
Document accurately and completely the adverse events in the electronic case report forms during home visits.
Ensure study participants are reimbursed as per the protocol requirements.
Ensure good working relationship in the working environment with colleagues, MOH staff, other partners, participants and community at large.
Assist in accurate vital sign and anthropometry taking and cleaning of the equipment used for collection of the same.
Assist with miscellaneous study activities including data entry, data query response, attend training, weekly reporting, etc.
Communicate with the field coordinator on any issues from the field
Attend study field briefs and share progress of work with the rest of the team.
Be courteous, respectful, proactive, conscientious, punctual, honest and hardworking
Work closely with the study clinicians at the health facilities.
Must be flexible to work during weekends and public holidays.
Be responsible for the study supplies and equipment's while in the field.
Perform any other duties assigned or delegated by the Study Manager.

The ideal candidate will leverage technical expertise to ensure high-quality, timely, and accurate data management that aligns with project goals and sponsor expectations.

Develop a comprehensive Data Management Plan (DMP) outlining the data collection and processing workflow.
Mentor data clerks and providing training as needed.
Design and maintain study source documents and Case Report Forms (CRFs).
Build and manage the project's Electronic Data Capture (EDC) system and database.
Perform regular quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) of CRFs and data entries.
Communicate with the Project Manager on matters related to QC, supplies, and CRF updates.
Lead the resolution of data queries and discrepancies.
Coordinate eligibility meetings and track participant enrollment, providing daily status updates.
Develop and maintain SOPs and user manuals related to data processes.

Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a qualified Research Officer to be stationed at Dar es Salaam office to support DM4DM Project to develop and strengthen the required capacity for local scientists as well as to work on mathematical modelling, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), software programming, and in data management & analysis related projects. The broad objective is to establish a sustainable data science and mathematical modeling capacity by building upon the achievements of the Data Science and Mathematical Modelling Team, continuing to provide technical support to National Malaria programs (NMPs), and expanding into new projects through various initiatives.

Participate in training in order to understand the biology of infectious diseases (especially malaria).

Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a qualified Research Scientist who will be based in Dar es Salaam to work with the Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) East Africa (EA) Node team and play a significant and strategic role in continuously assisting core researchers while improving the data science capability and contributing to the development of analytical models, preparing input data, deploying workflows, and disseminating results, including writing reports, papers for peer-reviewed publication, posters, etc., and engaging with relevant collaborators. Each RS will be allowed to design and implement his/her project with specific deliverables contributing to MAP's overall objective and scope.s.

Data gathering and processing
To provide statistical expertise in development and implementation of spatiotemporal models to respond to a variety of malaria research questions related to risk estimations, estimating of morbidity and mortality, understanding transmission profiles, and optimizing the impact of interventions.
Provide direct support to geospatial modellers including conducting high quality epidemiological analyses to support strategic analytics for global, regional, national and sub-national projects.
Perform extensive literature reviews, data mining/extraction and other information from published literature, official reports and other sources as needed.
Obtain, manage, and conduct preliminary processing and analysis on a variety of datasets, such as geo processing data for surveys, health facilities and data cleaning for surveillance type data (e.g. DHIS2, DHS/MIS/MICS).
Utilize software including Excel, ArcGIS/QGIS, SAS, STATA, and R, Python and others to examine, manipulate, analyse and process data, create high-quality data visualizations for reports, publications and dissemination activities.
Select, follow, and adapt data extraction and manipulation protocols.
Promote the best practice on use of data and conduct analytics by being responsible with others for general IT housekeeping, maintenance of b ack-ups, documentation of protocols, data processing procedures, and review of procedures.

Expertise in Bayesian modelling using Gaussian processes with demonstrable understanding of the issues arising from scaling these models to a global scale, validation, assessing performance and sensitivity analysis.
Knowledge and experience in working with ministries of health in LMICs, funding agencies and bilateral organizations
Experience of multi-metric analysis and covariate selection in the context of modelling large and complex data with spatial correlations.
Experience of working with NMCPs, understanding of malaria surveillance including using DHIS2.
Experience in developing and delivering training for different audiences.
